Speeding Question

A mate was caught doing 107mph on the A14 at 7:30am on a Sunday morning, the road being 3 lanes in each direction at that point.
He was caught by a marked car, with one officer in, which suddenly appeared in his rear view mirror. There was no other traffic about at the time.
Why would a BiB be doing well in excess of a ton to even catch up with him? Is it worth getting the video to find out whether the officer was speeding even before he saw my mate?
I suspect it'll make little difference to the prosecution?
Incidentally, what length ban would you expect for that?
He's almost 21, an aeronautical engineering student in a placement year, lack of license would be bad, but not the end of the world. Previously clean license since 17.

Shame that, not as if he was doing anything wrong, just something not legal.
My guess would be 6 points, £120 to £500 fine.
Surely a ban?
If anyone appears behind me when I'm "making progress" I always back off, try to workout what type of car it is, can a video camera be seen underneath the rear view mirror, who is driving, white shirt? etc, but this is next to impossible in the dark!

Because if he did not do in excess of a ton, he would never have had the oportunity to speak to your friend about why he was driving that fast

Your friend will be allowed to have acces of a copy of his offence. Nothing before it. In any case, the officer concernedis fireproof if he was using the vehicle for Policing purposes as he will be exempt from speeding. That means following someone else who happens to be doing just that

I would estimate between 2 and 4 weeks.

My Dad got a 2 week ban and a £500 fine for 100mph on the M4 a couple of years ago.
Its all means tested!!!!!! eg. Higher income = Lower length of ban and higher fine. Lower income = Longer ban and lower fine.

You forgot Chav = No fine, no bad and writeen apology from the judge and the legal system for wasting the chavs precios time.

For info on trying to get a copy of the video and options see here however it does seem like he did it and has owned up to it so probably is better off just taking the punishment.
