IIRC there was a law passed recently that meant the Police could enter private land and place charges on people breaking the law.

He wasn't breaking the law if the car was not on the highway.

My initial comment ..."this cannot be bloody right".

Car not on the "road"- private property by what I
suppose, no evidence of having been driven and defect as such qualifies not for a FPN but VDRS.

Got to be wind up, but there again its open season for Plod bashing, innit?

I have no doubt that it would be an offence if driven on the road, but the author is quite clear that it was parked up on private property. Is it possible for officers to wander around issuing tickets for vehicles parked on private land?

Along with constant open season for public bashing. Works both ways apart from the government has the power to do what they want without much reproach.

Isn't there something about the Road Traffic Act(s) or bits of it/them applying to places where vehicles are driven and where the public have access? Still sounds right b@stardly to do a fpn rather than a vdrn.

I'm not into "Plod bashing". I accept we can't be sure there's not more to this story than meets the eye but my impression was there isn't (you can decide for yourself).

So my initial reaction was the same as your initial comment. I may be wrong but I sense a groundswell of resentment building aganst 'authority'; and the police service is in the front line!

Sorry Guys I just cannot take that on board.

That Plod would go onto private property issue a ticket for failing to maintain lights in good and efficient working order/show light other than red to the rear, without any evidence that the vehicle was or had been driven on a road in that state.

Christ I know some (few) would scrape the barrel but this is ridiculous.
