Ban or points?

I don't think that's possible Spicy. In order to get the ban you have to have the points in the first place.
Any offence that would merit banning you, even on a clean licence, will automatically carry points with it.

It's either or. We can't impose double jeopardy of a ban, and points counting towards your next ban. A ban gets it out the way immediately, but looms over you in case you are banned again. We look at it and I'm sure insurer does for even longer. Better take the points and behave for 4 years.
