HADECS 3 cameras on the M25
Discussion
old news I suspect, but new to the M25(this type).
Please see :-

Redflex are the company that make HADECS3
These have been fitted between J5 and J6 on the M25, which I assume will be operational when the road works have finished.
They are to enforce the reduced speed limit in congestion, however I seen no reason why they will not enforce the 70mph limit within ACPO guide lines, after all they are fully digital and on a comms line.

Just thought people would like to see.

there was a thread about these on the m1 or somewhere recently someone was asking what they were. Can't find the thread now. They eventually disappeared, so aren't necessarily permanent.

Any pictures of what they look like from behind? That's the view one needs to look out for...

We drove round there yesterday, there was a long 50 section (J7 to J5 had 50 limit shown) but there were no yellow specs camera's going anti clockwise, but we could see them on the clockwise side (yellow specs cameras).
Are these new camera's in force now, and anyone know what is the margin above 50?

Odd that a single camera is now sufficient - the new cameras on the m4/m5 round Bristol have a camera per lane and I regularly see those flashing away at people during my commute.
The gantries still have cameras behind each speed limit red circle. This new beastie is not one of those.

Surely they are to police the use of the hard shoulder? On this stretch the hard shoulder is sometimes an extra lane to relieve congestion. Red cross on gantry=don't use hard shoulder as a lane=camera on.
Not on this section, this is an All Lane Running Motorway, there is no hard shoulder at all.(Different to a managed motorway or to a hard shoulder running motorway)
And even when someone does break down on the road the gantries don't change. Saw a couple people changing a tyre on a transit in lane 1 last week, gantries all turned off.
The bloke with the spanner had some big b
ks relying on his mate to shout out as he was just lighting a fag as I drove past with his back to the traffic because of the wind

They are more visible than the ones that are behind the signs on the gantry, assuming they are all going to be mounted like that.Landshark said:

Not quite sure what you mean. This thing is in addition to the variable speed limit cameras that hang behind the speed limit signs overhead on the gantries. Those are active when the speed limit is below 70 (for now) but this new thing appears to be on all the time.
Ah, I assumed these were replacing the current ones.PoleDriver said:
