quick legal question

Just read a post that said it was legal for a driver to break the speed limit if not doing would impede police business. or words to that effect.

Is this refering to the police driver, or for instance the driver of a car infront of a police vehicle (say in roadworks where the police car couldn't pass)?

Much as I am sure DVD is right, I have been encouraged to make progress by the BIB. I was on a fairly busy dual carriage way. Lane 1 was nose to tail and slowed down as BIB (marked volvo) came belting up lane 2 with flashers and woo woo's. As I had been making progress slightly I slowed to 70 and hunted for a space in lane 1 to get out of the way and see if I was the object of their interest. As I looked back in the RVM the passenger was very obviously waving me on (his not mine). So I (tentatively) accelerated again. He kept waving, I kept going until I eventually found a slot I could get in to at my now somewhat increased speed. They belted past and I got a thumbs up from the passenger. I still suspect my problems getting in to lane 1 which I was consistently indicating I wanted to do, were mainly due to the occupants of Lane 1 thinking I was attempting to evade the BiB and not wnating to help me.

In error as two posts of the same posted I tried to delete one and finished up taking both out.

I only said that there was nothing at law to permit what Bryan said except vehicles used for the purpose of certain Emergency services.

Not been the same since I read FiF's escapade in the Supermarket car park. Arf, arf (multiplied)
