Do Truvelo flash ?

On the A43 yesterday I passed a Truvelo just as I moved out to overtake. Unusually it was on the central reservation on a slight bend and was concealed by the truck in front until I pulled out.

The thing did not flash.

Do these things still flash and does anybody know how they work ?

I saw a line level with it in the road and by the time I passed that I was well within the speed limit.

Forward facing Truvelos don't flash. Even the Speed Camera proponents aren't that stupid.

They do flash, but behind a magenta filter so its not apparent.

It's noticable and you know when you've been done...

I've been flashed dozens of times by foward facing truvelos whilst on emergency runs, so experience is writing this post....

It certainly is noticable! I was a passenger going up the A1 near Newark and we got flashed, it was very bright and very distracting - much worse than Gatsos.

Interestingly we were doing about 50mph in a signed roadwork area (40mph but no visible road works ) - got flashed but no NIP as yet (2 months and counting...)

after 14 days, your clear... as long as your DVLA records are up-to-date and they could contact you if they wanted to.

Trevelo's are a infra-red flash right? I'd have thought all you see is a red glow on the flash unit when it went off?

The number of people I have seen panic braking after being flashed/blinded is incredible

Nope. Standard flash behind a magenta filter. I've seen someone flashed by a Truvelo on the A505 heading in to Luton, and I was about 200 metres away from them.
