Looks like it could have been, the forks look like off road stylee....

I seem to remember that there was a bit of a fuss about these "car bras" absorbing radar signals" Did anyone else remember this?

Can't see our wonderful leader letting stealth cars get away with being able to blat about the country with no fear of being caught. Might as well take the plates off.

I was always told that copper sheeting absorbed the laser and thus sent a lower reading back to the device. not sure if true as not had the courage to add the extra weight to the nose cone of the car.

I'll try it out & let you know, might be something to with its patina after heat is applied, gives off strange colours.

copper may indeed absorb/diffuse/etc laser, but it's the balatino in the number plate where the real reflection comes from. They glisten like speculars of the sun off a mirror on a summers day when you point a laser at them. It's extremely reflective.
erm.......unless you go to a photography shop and buy a sheet of IR blocking filter gel, and have it made into some new numberplates.
I have worked with a chap who helped set up the congestion charge system in london, and he's played about with the cameras/ANPR computers, and they absolutely cannot read a plate with IR filter gels.
Neither can an LTI 2020 get a reading (at distance)
A laser gun will get a reading if the surface is close enough though, even of a brick wall.
