Do aliens make you speed?

They do in Northumbria. Check out the excuses

Aliens ate my hamster isn't quite it -- but it's close. The Northumbria Safety Camera Partnership -- the body which runs the county's speed camera business -- has just published its top 10 excuses for being Gatsoed. At the top of the list is a trance induced by aliens, followed by blaming passing aircraft for triggering the camera.

The list comes from the excuses penned by motorists trying to avoid the dreaded three-points and an SP30 penalty.

Northumbria Safety Camera Partnership manager Ray King said: "Some drivers seem to think that if they tell a good enough story then they will get off, which unfortunately rarely works. It is quite amazing the lengths some drivers will go to to avoid £60 and three points, when really the alternative is extremely simple - keep within the speed limit."

The top ten list is:

  • I had passed out after seeing flashing lights, which I believed to be UFOs in the distance. The flash of the camera brought me round from my trance.
  • I was in the airport’s flight path and I believe the camera was triggered by a jet overhead, not my car.
  • I had a severe bout of diarrhoea and had to speed to a public toilet.
  • There was a strong wind behind my car which pushed me over the limit.
  • My friend had just chopped his fingers off and I was rushing the fingers to hospital.
  • The vibrations from the surfboard I had on the roof rack set off the camera.
  • I had to rush my dying hamster to the vets.
  • A violent sneeze caused a chain reaction where my foot pushed down harder on the accelerator.
  • There was a suspected case of foot and mouth and I had to rush to see the cow concerned.
  • The only way I could demonstrate my faulty clutch was to accelerate madly.

It's just a pity that speeding chiefs of police (eg Manchester) don't seem to feel the need to explain anything, other than giving their name, rank and serial  number.

"I had a severe bout of diarrhoea and had to speed to a public toilet."

That seems like a medical emergency to me.

What are your options if you have diarrhoea when in the car? it is illegal to take a dump on the pavement, and its ilegal to speed up a bit and try and make it to a toilet..

I guess you are expected to shit yourself.

Do aliens make me speed?

Definitely, all the time. I'm always looking for a new excuse, or somebody else to blame.

I expect Peter will be looking forward to a bit of fun when he's finished running-in that TVR wheelbarrow.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

well we all know that the police can speed whenever there going to an emergency,, if the law say that speeding is ilegal, then of course it must apply to all aspects of speeding there should only be special dispensation, when traveling to a genuine emergency, not for example, .a kid throwing stones off the school roof, a motorcycle using waste ground on a weekend,,and of course the one we all know they do, BLUE'S AND TWO'S when there late for there REF's (refreshments) or shift end.....one rule for some and another for the rest....dirty

>There was a strong wind behind my car which pushed me over the limit.

Plausible, if there was a hurricane. Considering trucks can be picked up & thrown around.

>My friend had just chopped his fingers off and I was rushing the fingers to hospital.

Excellent reason to speed. If there are records to back it up, then why not?

>The vibrations from the surfboard I had on the roof rack set off the camera.

There is truth in this as a theory. Just 'cos they would prefer you not to get out of ticket doesn't mean there is not a scientific explanation.

Are all SCP's devoid of morals & human emotion?

Had a Chinese bloke turn up at Court with a pair of the old 'winkle picker' shoes.
He tried to convince the Court that the reason he was doing 125 on the M1 was because he couldnt feel how hard he was pushing the accelerator down into his plush Mercedes carpet.

Needless to say, it didnt work and he ended up on public transport for a few months.

I hear this affliction can also cause vision blackspots that affect the field of view towards speedometers
