Hi there, just looking for some advice
my dad, got flashed at by a truvelo thing.
its the one near etone school in nuneaton if anyone is familiar with it
He knows of it and says he was positive he was going a couple of miles per hour under the 30 limit,
but hes not sure what this means since it flashed him!
he said there was a car behind but that appeared to remain at the same distance behind him and not be going particularily quick,
so what does this mean, he is adament he wasnt going over the limit. so what should he expect to happen? if anything?

Pray that he doesn't get a NIP in 14 days. If he does, he should try to get the photographic evidence.

There will be some indication, although looking at that picture, it's been cut down.
For example, if both the Mini and the HGV were travelling at the same speed the camera will produce two pictures. The readings for the truck will appear on the right hand side of the picture (as in this case) and the readings for the mini will appear on the left hand side.

In the photo you posted how do they know which vehicle set the camera off?

As a second set of sensors apply to all lanes, they would seem (to me) that these are a redundant set to ensure the prosecution is valid (error detection). Without the second set of sensors, it would be very easy for multiple vehicles (all within the speed limit) to fool the camera into concluding a speed violation has occurred.

Each lane has separate sensors, so two vehicles can be 'captured' simultaneously.
Correct me if I'm wrong!

I have a truvelo near me which simultaneously enforces 4 lanes, would make for an interesting picture
edited to say: I've seen cars blast though this truvelo when in traffic - no flash, so there can't independent sensors in each lane.

I thought Truvelo's did not emit a visible flash. See here.

They just hedge their bets, and send an NIP to both. You don't think they bother looking at the speed, do you?
There was a case a while ago where a van driver got a NIP, asked for the photos, and the white lines showed he was doing just 13mph.

I have never seen a substantiated document that claims truvelos ever use an IR filter. Only magenta filters are used.
I would think that a magenta filter only passes the red and blue light (the eye is most sensitive to green), hence it being called magenta. So I would assume it is to get a 'better picture' to 'driver dazzle' ratio (if that makes sense

just goes to show, you should always ask for the evidence! If only 1 vehicle was speeding, then the sensors will only register the vehicle going slower (if they crossed the white lines at the same time) as the slower will have crossed the sensors first. This would tie in with what I said before about nutters blasting though with heavy traffic in the other lanes, without getting flashed.
If both are doing exactly the same speed, then I guess both could be prosecuted. However, I thought there was a rule along the lines of 'if there is more than 1 vehicle in the sensor area, then the evidence is inadmissible', can anyone confirm?

They say their kit can be used with or without flash.
"Intelligent Flash" they call it. A flash in a drivers eyes can hardly be called "intelligent".
