Seized my first uninsured vehicle today

PNC states no insurance
Quick chat with flat owners and found a chap who "knew" the owner but it wasnt his

Right - give him this bit of paper would you and if he claims his vehicle with a vald insurance certificate he can have it back, otherwise its the crusher.
Torch, bolt croppers,syphoning hose and barrel in back all went with the car to the recovery yard.
Got to say I felt good and the neighbours applauded.

tonyrec.....with all the uninsured cars that are just around alperton/wembley for you guys to impound....where the hell are you going to put them??
also(out of interest) where does the money from the disposal of the motors go?....imho it should go 50/50 between the trafpol for officer recruitment,new vehicles,etc and the police widows and orphans fund and none spent on useless management types who are as effective as a catflap on a submarine and who just drain your budget like leaches!
but this would be wishful i suppose...no doubt the money will go to fatboy's depleated piggybank to be blown on some bloody wallpaper for some cock's office.

Interesting that. My car came up on PNC the other week as no insurance and no registered keeper. The tax disc was knicked when the car was broken into. Fortunately I could produce the insurance certificate and proof of the break in and eventually the tossers in Swansea found the records. Obviously this guy u just towed is some gypaloid type but what happens when u crush someones P&J and they are legit? Who pays when Swansea get it wrong? Or is not gonna happen?

How about paying the poor sod who has to go and pick it up. He can use the money to pay the increased insurance premiums when his yard is torched.

who said recovery agents are "poor" - not in my experience and they do get paid for taking the car away

Good work! However I do think these vehicles should be considered for auction, or sold to specific breakers, with resulting funds going back to frontline policing. Even if they're old scrappers, it seems a wasted opportunity not to salvage the usable parts first and put some much needed cash back into the system.

NYP up here have been running this Insurance seizure for the last couple of months. I cannot find the authority for doing so - there must be some. So what is it.
Plodaughter was asked but hasn't told me yet. All I can come up with is Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 (next year)Part 5 Sections 129 -133 which is in Bill form and therefore not yet received the Queens signature (Royal assent)or has it.
Those sections are of interest as they are after you as an owner if the vehicle details are not correct.
