weird vans parked on the M1?

For the last few days there have been two white vans a couple of hundred yards from each other on the hard shoulder of the M1 (northbound lanes just before junction 10).

The two vans have what appear to be a immovable 'turret' type affair on the roof with windows in the side, they look like they are designed for someone to look out of..

Anyone know what they are?

Seen one of these parked up on the roundabout at J10 for the past few days, would be interested to know what they're for. They look like armoured vehicles for a very cheap B movie!

No idea what they are, but if you see them again report them to the police for parking illegally, and of course very dangerously.

Doesn't this just go to highlight, that we are all being conditioned into being distracted by anything at the roadside. I wonder how many drivers stood on the brakes on seeing THAT thing? And whose fault is it?........
