Gatso trap @ M60 J8 anti clockwise direction

This nearly caught me out and required some hard backing to avoid getting zapped:
There are major roadworks on the M60 and the area is festooned with cameras. On approaching the roadworks there's the usual 600 yrds, 400yrds, 200yrds countdown markers; only they have placed a 40mph limit with a Gatso 50 yrds after it between the 400yrd and the 200yrd countdown markers.
It seems the markers are intended to countdown to where the lane changes start in the road works and not the start of the roadworks as you would normally think. Sneeky

Liebchen ... these have been in place since the work started last March - und they have increased since the work commenced - und they keep moving them around
as well
# The one which has just come into operation around Atrincham spur (Mad Doc had referred a patient to heart peoples in Wythenshawe und had to attend some case conference about his chances of survival following major surgery). Anyways my liebster husband came across this one before it came into being. It was in place und stationed just after a big lollipop warned of "40 mph - three quarter miles). There was no bag over it und peoples were slamming on brakes when they saw it.
Mad Doc had full scale rant over it on Paulie's site und fired off a heated e-mail. Und ... when he drove past two days later - they had placed "not in use" signs und bag over offending Gatso - which ist now in operation as they have now started working just at this point.
But ... we hear reports that these M60 Gatsos mean business und are set to a zero tolerance setting. Und they have "Kein Ermessen"
Given liebster Dibs' thread ... it would be interesting to see if peoples make way for ambulances rushing to Hope, Wythenshawe und Stepping Hill hospitals if they needed to make progress through the roadworks ...

edited to say - per Mad Doc who has not been down there since he made biggest complaint over the first one....
have they started plaaying "musical gatsos again?" und it might be worth ranting to the local prats about it so it gets the biggest bag again

When occasioning said highway, I am always struck by the gross stupidity of the majority.
One might have just barrelled by moments before, only to show respect for the obvious hazard at hand and yet so many French car drivers simply sail on by, content in their middle lane daze.
Nevertheless, it is appallingly insidious and raises the more significant question (which could be equally levelled at the interminable 'Thelwall Question'), namely, what is going on and why the buggery is it taking so ruddy long?*
Unlikely to have happened in the days of Uncle Benito.
(* The answer, of course, is pure communism.)

I braked hard and I was into the marked zap zone while still standing on the brakes. I was expecting a ticket but none has turned up and so I thought the large white van man in the adjacent lane had saved me or maybe I wasn't going fast enough at the critical moment. The above post suggests that it might not be active after all.Its been there for a good while now and has no bag over it, anyone care to test it ?
It surely must be a hazard and likely to cause an accident as it causes people to brake suddenly in a congested and driver distracting area. I guess that's true of many Gatso's.
