As it reads, really.

I'm lucky enough to finish nights on Christmas Eve morning at 7am, then off until earlies on Monday 27th. First Christmas I've been off for in 5 or 6 years.

The downside is that I'm working nights over the New Year, and because of the Public Holidays, we're down to minimum staffing, with pubs and clubs open until 6am. Deep fing joy.

What are the rest of the BiB on here working?

Must be a very rough time for his wife Eilish.

Say a prayer* for his family, PHers.

*or whatever else you'd do if you don't pray.

Mrs Mcflurry works as a Travel Agent - they are open Xmas Eve and Boxing Day. No extra £ either :-(

I know the original post said Plod but I thought would add it for a sense of balance.

Even service station attendants get extra £££ working the key Xmas bank holidays....perhaps your wife should seek advice...I'm sure bank holiday working should be extra ££

I've got Christmas day off this year! (if you call cooking for and entertaining 16, a day off!)

And I was supposed to be working New Years Eve night but our local tame Jehova's Witness has swapped shifts with me!

Probably get clobbered next year though!

I am currently on A/L until Christmas Eve.

Tomorrow, I am spending the day with Sir Jackie Stewart and some other friends

I spent last Thursday with him too

Last weeks quote of the day from Sir Jackie was

"Everyone has off days. Its better not to have too many in my line of work!" !

Ahhh! The Christmas Rota! My staff get informed of theirs tomorrow night it could possibly explain all of the bottles of Scotch and tins of chocolates I have received this week

Some of them want to work, most of them don't - double bubble (£) on 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th.

I will try to be fair - If they have got kids they won't get any shifts between 1800hrs 0n Xmas eve and 0600hrs on Boxing day but they will get the N/Years eve night shift - but rest assurred, no doubt I will upset someone

Dentist on call. Strangely people just assume that I'm sitting in a room, waiting for their call, as opposed to - actually at home, with my family, doing normal Xmas stuff. The general public have no idea what constitutes an actual emergency.

As far as I'm concerned: Uncontrolled bleeding
Acute tracking infection
Trauma

Acute toothache with sleep loss I'll see in good time, but other stuff that people have demanded emergency appointments for include

- My crown has fallen out (When did it fall out?) About three months ago

- 5.20pm friday afternoon "I've had toothache for a week, I must be seen right now" "But sir, you don't have an appointment, you have missed three appointments in the last two months, and your account says you owe us £112.85 for previous treatment" "You have to see me now or I will go to the papers and sue!"

- "So Ms Smith I understand that you've been given this emergency appointment because you're having severe toothache?" " No, I just said that to be seen quick, I've chipped a bit off this tooth here, but it doesn't hurt"

- "You said that your face was swollen, but I'm looking at you now and I don't see it?" " Well my mate said that and he got seen dead quick"
