Under car neons......

Didn't realise that under car neons (the motoring equivalent of wing'd horse chavtat):

1)cost £100
2)are illegal on the roads. The halford website states "These lights must not be visible to other road users. For off-road and display use only. Not legal for use on public highways."

I've seen hundreds of pecker necked chavs driving their festas with full illumination on. Have any of the BiB on here issued FPN for their use (please say you have)?

Another question is, if they were caught by a speed camera and the neons could be clearly seen would they also recieve a FPN for that offence as well?

They are legal, as long as you can't see the tubes IIRC.

Hideous and pointless though, and you should be arrested by the taste police.

Nope...the higher penalty speeding would be used.

Just found the relevant legislation on car lighting. It seems the law is not clear cut and there may be a case for FPN if so inclined. Dibble could you add this to your list ?

There is a Corsa near my home who clearly has scant regard for the law. Not only are his collection of 4 neons clearly visible, but they are red on a green car - talk about colour clash!!!!

He's also got the forward facing washer lights and extra little spots in the bumper. Therefore totally illegal, but that doesnt stop him.

The guy here (Alan) has £££s worth of lighting, including a "road legal mode" whereby the neon at the front turns white, amber in the middle and red shows to the rear
