Which laws did i break?

Ok last night i was taking the car trailer back to the unit we store the car in.

now this is a 4 wheel trailer, quite big and with all the lights working. and it was empty..


No about half way there in the middle of town a wheel bearing siezed and locked up one of the wheels.


mmm middle of a commuter route at 4:45. i pull over to see whats happened, so im already causing a problem as i can only get half off the road. soo there is a nice tailback behind me, and even a very close near miss as some numpty going thother way is looking at me as he drives past and doesnt notice the stopped cars in front of him. much tyre smoke and he ends up on the path !!!!

so in view of the situation re traffic etc. i simply whip off the wheel, make sure the hub and brake drum are secure and trundle off on 3 wheels...

did i break any laws???? if so would i have got away with it in the situation?

would i have been better off removing the wheel from the otherside as well?

It appears you did all you could in the situation. Continuing could have meant a tyre fire or the bearing collapsing and the wheel falling off and causing injury to a 3rd party.

Don't see a problem with it - you did the right thing IMO. The other bloke should have been looking where he was going - good job he was't totally asleep.
