cars with one headlight working

It must be OK now to have only one headlight working instead of the usual two.

I have seen two police cars (Focus and Discovery) in the last 3 days with only one headlight working.

I thought the vehicles were checked on a daily basis.....

The thing about all technology, including and especially bulbs, is that it only fails when you come to use it.

Tolerance is the watchword.

Criticise others as you would accept criticism yourself.

As with what would happen with any of us if a policeman in a car would tell us we MUST go and get it changed (the buld out that is), I hope these two police cars where going to have the blown bulb replaced promptly!.

Most police cars ae so knackered it's a miracle they work at all.

We have a nice new fleet of shiney silver BMW's......in a couple of years tho they will be knackered.

My other bulb blew tonight - so drove home on sidelights and fogs in the dark bits of town.

Looked right chavvy but didn't get stopped - even though passed by 3 cop mobiles. I have the replacements in the boot, but as I was at work during the hours of lightness they will have to wait until tomorrow...

Sounds like they weren't traffic cars.

I've Vor'd* our traffic vehicles many times for lighting defects.

Panda/van drivers seem to have a different set of rules though...



*VOR - vehicle off road. Car taken off operational use until the defect is repaired.

I've seen hundreds of cars doing motorbike impressions. Its not a big job to switch your head lights on and nip and have a look before you set off.

Its another symptom of having cars that are a lot more reliable than they were. My old man still does a virtual full service on his car if he has to drive it more than about 20miles. He started driving in the early 50s and if you didn't make sure everthing worked before you set off you'd end up using up valuble shoe leather!
Cars now are treated by many as household appliances.
