Per tonight's "Manchester Evening News" (17/12/04 - reporter - Dean Kirby)
If you received a fine on A663 Broadway Oldham bewtween 7 July and 10 July 2004 - please contact the Manchester Central Ticketing Office!
A revolt by motorists has led to 450 motorists being let off a speeding fine.
They were all caught between 7 and 10 July 2004 by scamera whilst exceeding a 30mph tempo in roadworks. Only someone forgot to cover up a 40 mph sign just yards from the scam!
Not Manchester Pold have dropped fines against 450 motorists known to have passed that scam on thos dates. If they had paid up - the scammers would have netted £27K (and this is not counting the ones who paid up and shut up at the time!) GMP say that anyone who has already paid the fine will be refunded and the points removed from their licence.
Kevin Keirnan from Rochdale led the fight and told the "M.E.N": "We were detrmined to take our cases to court. Some drivers took legal advice and were advised they had been copped fair and square and those fines were worth thousands of pounds. No-one would have been the wiser if we had not made a stand!"

All the motorists were copped up to 40 mph through the roadworks on the A663,(Broadway, Oldham) between 7 July 2004 and 10 July 2004.
Mr Kiernan said there was a 40mph sign just in front of the scam and the scam was set to ping at 30 mph just inside the new 30- mph limit
( In the interests of safety? 
Retired traffic Inspector Neil Longsden (former second-in command of GMP's m/way unit) backed the campaign: "Someone in authority should have taken a proper look at the signs on that road. They were clearly inadequate!"
Karen Stringer, manager of the Manchester Prats said there were 30mph signs on the road - but we improved the signage after a review!"
She means after they made a mint!
And judging from J8 on M60 - they are still doing this sort of thing - and only repsond if you send a stroppy e-mail about it
She confirmed that there are 450 motorists who are known to have come forward with complaints over fines incurred between 7 and 10 July 2004 from that scam, and that they are not being fined.
If you think you are one of these drivers - please contact the Manchester Central Ticket Office to get the endorsemnet removed and your money back!

But of course, m4rk Liebchen ... they keep moving the ones on M60 as they continue to work ... but they apparently forget to bag them over und we do not know for sure if they operate.... MM ranted off about them in e-mail to Prats the first time he came across them - he had referred a patient mit heart defect caused by virus to the heart/lungs specialists in Wythenshawe und he came to biggest sign which said "40 mph - three quarter mile ahead" und the scam was less than 1 km behind it! Und looked like it was live. He e-mailed the prats und next time he passed it - they had placed a big white bag over it - which stayed until they commenced work.
But if they are still doing this - then you need to bang out a protest e-mail as they are still misbehaving themselves.
Und my liebster husband ist showing solidarity to his wife - judging from his spellings
But he was in middle of typing it when we had visitors ...und so he did not read through it... but am making excuses for him of course (Und I have to if I want toppest prezzie from him for Xmas ... I deserve a bank vault spending on me .... just a subtle hint ... which I shall be dropping all the time )
