m6 max 'safe' speed.

Hi all, I have to drive the length of the M6 both ways over the xmas period and I hear there has been a proliferation of SPECS systems since last year. I'll be travelling late at night / very early in the morning - what is the max speed I can set the cruise at to aviod any tickets?

I think they're only on the Thelwall viaduct - have been up and down the M6 in the last few weeks and no problems with cameras or plod.

I remember the days when I could do 140mph over the fantastic bits around Cumbria, where the road splits into two, and for the rest I could do 120 mph most of the way apart from obvious high traffic areas.

Came home over the Thelwall Viaduct tonight and the Roadworks and Specs are gone now - well Northbound at least, it did look like there were still cones out Southbound though.....

Don't take any chances. Just snap your front number plate in half and re-fit half of it.
Then you are immune from SPECS, the Cumbria laser-cameras and all the other nonsense that's around.
If, in the very unlikely event of getting stopped by the almost non-existant motorway trafpols, it's £30 and no points for a busted plate, although they would probably just let you off with a caution if you assured them that it had happened over the holiday and that as soon as you get home you're going down to the number plate shop with V5, Passport and a utility bill. Remember, you can't buy a new plate without those documents, so if you do ever snap a plate you can't get it fixed immediately by just going into a dealers. Plod are inclined to be sympathetic with this.
