POLICE NOT DOING JOB.

I dont have any problem with the police and think they do a reasonable job under difficult conditions, however they do not help themselves ........I am currently having to liase with them about an incident which was reported to them on 2nd December 2004. I have had no phonecall to even tell me who is dealing with it.......so I have spent an hour been passed from pillar to post and finally have the name of the officer dealing with it..."he is off til Monday I am told". I telephone today and he doesnt even bother returning my call..........not very good.........
The same happened to me recently....customer service eh?
1) The binmen didn't empty my bin or the rest of my cul-de-sac. I mean, I pay their wages and then they do this to me!
2) The local fire brigade are going to a centralised call centre and also closing some fire stations down! Rediculous...lives will be lost.
3) I ordered a "Cartier" watch for my wife for Xmas and was promised it would be here by 12th Dec. It's now the 20th and it's still not arrived. Very poor show.
4) My local VW dealer can't get my Passat in for a service until mid January! Dreadful.
5) and finally....National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is being screened AGAIN this year!

So there is bad service in other areas and that justifies somebody's dissatisfaction with the service he has been getting from the Police? If I get a complaint from a client that one of my colleagues has not been responsive to his problem, he should drop the complaint when I tell him that our accountants are slow in getting the tax returns done, we're unhappy with the landlord's maintenance of our building and I don't like what's on TV tonight?

one and the same.......
A skip wagon was stolen from inside the coal yard on our industrial estate this morning at 6am (it woke me up as it rammed the gates off their hinges), I phoned the police and the yard owner, the police were here within 10 mins with two cars and four officers, excellent response, and they were courteous and polite whilst I gave them the details I had. Lately I have nothing but praise for our local lads 
I appreciate your point, and 18 days is a long wait.
But in defence you dont know how many other jobs are in his / her docket. And if the job has been allocated then he / she may only have been just informed of the job. Also just because they say they are back today doesnt mean he is.
And if he is on rest days for 4 / 5 days what is wrong with that??
If none of the above applied to this officer then it is a tad poor.
But i dont think it was worthy of a POLICE not doing job. More like 1 officer.

You're right is was a bit of a silly response..
but it was to highlight that smooth operation and running isn't something that's present in any business or service in 2004 Britain...
However, everyone expects the police to be perfect....even though they have generally more rules and regulations than most services and budgets that are at best stretched...at worse disgraceful...

I'm sure you are right Gary, GENERALLY speaking the Police do a brilliant job under very trying circumstances, working very unsocial hours......
