Excuses For Speeding

Here are a selection of excuses for speeding released by South Wales Scamera Partnership today -

I picked up a hitchhiker who commented that they liked my car so I let 'this person' drive the vehicle. I don't have their name or address. I was in a hire car and the speedometer was in a different position - I was actually looking at the rev counter by mistake. As I entered onto the motorway, my car was dragged along in the slip-stream of a truck. My brakes aren't very good, so I had to keep pace with it.

How about this one. "The speed limit on this road is riduculously low and I was making good progress whilst adjusting my speed constantly to take account of the ever changing condition of the road, visibility and with respect to potential and real hazards and dangers."

The road limit is set to cater for all cars in all possible conditions, and can not cater for changes in conditions or driver training.

The limits are absurd, and people are mostly stupid. Look at the 20 & 30 limits. All enforced? nope. A lot of them in genuine places, no cams. Where do they put cams? on the good bits of road that don't have kiddies walking home.

People are idiots. Look at any foggy day. Low vis, and people still do 70mph (legally), when maybe 50 or 40 would make more sense.

Fixed limits suck, hence we break them.

Ignorant drivers suck, therefore the Gov tries to break them. But fails due to the camera policy being hopelessly wrong.
