I am after a bit of guidance on how best to proceed from people in the know.

May 2013 I got a new windscreen fitted as part of a car purchase organised by the dealer but done after i purchased the car by fitter company A.

October 2014 I get a crack appear so new windscreen, fitter company B removes the windscreen and there is rust running around the aperture where the screen sit due to what looks very much like a blade being run through some of the sealant/glue/whatever, areas of paint bubbling etc.

I have contacted company A (by telephone and email), told them of the situation, given them photographs. Their response was along the lines of we are unhappy you got the new windscreen fitted so we couldn't see the areas rust for ourselves (despite photographs and apparently the requirement for me to have no windscreen in my car for however long...) followed by oh well tough.

Car is a June 2012 car which was at the dealers between its 'new' delivery to the dealership and me purchasing it, its very clear it is company A who did this.

In my mind there is damage to my car that they have caused which has resulted in rust and voiding of my warranty. Obviously the windscreen aperture needs a respray. So where do I go from here....? And approximate costs if anyone has done something similar?

bubbling

typical line of rust, its like this all the way around

All too common I'm afraid, I had a new screen put in a Porsche 964 a few years back ( it was removed to check for rust ironically, none found) only to have the scuttle bubble up within a couple a months. Screen came out and we found exactly what you are experiencing, took them to task and after weeks of fancying around got it sorted myself. They also thought is was acceptable to secure the rear view mirror ( which they broke) with a self tapping screw cunningly painted black, but that's another story!

Autogits.

It is reminiscent of the corrosion on my old Alfa when they and fiat were using the crap Russian steel material.
