WTF was all that about...?

For the past 15 minutes I have been looking out of my kitchen window at 4 cop cars (Vectras or something) parked across the end of my driveway having stopped a car. They all had red and blue lights flashing all over the shop and the whole shebang was lit up by a Nite-Sun provided by a helicopter hovering over my house.
I was sat playing with the r/c helicopter simulator on my computer - I thought the sounds were meaty and realistic, then I tuned it off and realised it was a real copter outside. Really, I was.
The dogs were going mad in the kitchen because the light was illuminating the whole room and the garden as well as the commotion outside.
Must confess I have never seen anything like that before - bear in mind I live out in the semi-sticks with my nearest neighbour over 100yds away. Nothing like that ever happens round here.
Must get one of those Nite Suns. Can you get them on eBay...?
I'll fasten one to the front of my car and dazzle fog light nupties
The Nite Sun reminded me of one time when I was driving to Blackpool after a night out. I was on the M55 late at night and my whole rear view mirror became lit up with blues. I pulled over to the first lane and was passed my an old Maestro in the middle lane doing about 75. Following him were 3 cop cars and a dog van, again we were all lit up by the helicopter's Nite Sun. After they filtered around me, I followed them all the way to the M55 end at which point Maestro boy went round the roundabout and back onto the M-way the other direction.
Never did see myself on Police Camera Action or anything. Gutted. Perhaps one day Bunnell will show me on his program.

Great. I've just been out to the end of the drive to collect the wheelie bins. One of the cops last night turned around in the road to go the other way, except they didn't. Instead, I have got two 6" deep tyre ruts right across my front lawn FFS.

I might well do. The thing is that literally 15yds further down the road there's a layby you can easily turn round in, and if you can't be bothered to do that, use the driveway. once of the cars did turn in the drive, the other driver patently couldn't be arsed and it's chewed up the bloody lawn. Ah well.

Costco now do a 10,000,000 candelpower torch, which I've bought.

It stopped, and turned round.
Like a frightened child I ran in the house and sat with the lights off.
God I was scared, chopper buzzing overhead.
Oh, what fun!
Costco now do a 10,000,000 candelpower torch, which I've bought.

I've got a feeling that the claimed output of ten million candlepower is a bit close to the wind. You'd need something the size of a truck battery to power it for more than 5 minutes...! I've got one of the 1.5 million ones, as well as a 1 million and a half million. Can't see how they can get 10 million with a standard filament bulb - the Cop Nite Suns are between 10 and 30 million Cp and they have bloody great generators and use big gas discharge lights.
Anyways, whatever the output - they are bloody good aren't they...!!!

7AH battery at 12 V which gives 84WH.
runs it for about 20 minutes (15 in real terms)
reflector is about 10 inches in diameter.
I think the 10 million bit is used simply as a nice round number than it's spec, but it is f*****g bright.
like REALLY bright. Shine it at your hand from 12 inches and you cannot look at your hand without squinting, even in daylight.
Hand gets pretty warm too!.

Lite Force (Australian) do a super dooper driving light, 1,000,000 candlepower, Lexan stone proof lenses as well. Definitely NOT legal over here but damned good for returning the favour to the sad muppets who still insist on driving with their bloody fog lights on.(Nick 'em all Dibble)
