People making statements against you - options?

If someone has made a statement against you, which you know is BS, what are the options available?

Timescales between an incident and the statement being made are 6 Months, and the comment that is being statement I wouldn’t expect someone who was articulated from the conversation to have remembered.

The gloves are off, so happy for far reaching observations.

If the statement is introduced as evidence in a court case, then cross-examination should demolish them. Otherwise, well... I predict that psychic abilities are in short supply.
