Sooo I'm lpoking at buying a P reg car, however I've got a person reg on retention (off my old car).

It's a 6 digit plate and starts with 'T' does that class as making it look newer than it is? As far as I knew, 6 digit plates didn't count, but I've heard conflicting answers.

HELP.

Is it a 98 ish plate ?

If so, you can't put it on an older car, regardless of how many digits or characters it may have.

If it is TOM 123 for example, then that is dateless, and you may put it on any car/bike.

If it's a T as in T11 TTT, then you can't put it on a 96/97 car.

Unless it's a TTT 11T suffix style or dateless

"6 digit" doesn't help us, if it's 'THN 475' then it's fine, if it's 'T45 THN' then it's not.

It really would HELP others to HELP you and stop all the guessing if you just gave us the reg numbers, you can substitute the numbers for XXXX's if you think it will stop us invading your privacy.

it's a fking pointless rule i wish they would get rid of it

i am not sure what the point of it is/was, was it to protect buyer being tricked into buy a car that looks newer than it is?
or was it to keep the exclusivity of the latest sets of random numbers and letter for only those who've bought a new vehicle ?

Probably should have put more thought into this.

Reg plate in question is T26 TCS and the car I want to put it on is P252 CRB.

Apologies for the guessing game aha.

T comes after P chronologically so no you cant put it on your car. It would need to go on retention.

Don't think we've ever had 6 digit plates in this country. 6 character, yes...
