Now this is scary. DeltaFox has uncovered a potential minefield in another thread. You think the thought police were a thing of Orwell's imagination? Think again!
So, any rational person questioning road safety or speed limit reduction will be hit with a full scale orchestrated campaign to make them sound like a child murderer. FACT! It's in their own words. Any evidence will be doctored/realigned for their purposes.
Money from scamming fines is going to be spent to attempt to maipulate the thought processes of everyday people through subliminal messaging.
They are even going to re-engineer data to make cars seem more environmentally friendly when they are in stop start traffic. I think I'm going to have to write to the environmentalists about this!!!!
This is very dangerous and does not bode well for anyone who values their personal freedom to use a car.
It's time for action. I call on anyone who values their car use to join me in a campaign to re-engineer every roadside piece of propaganda with a spray can. ALL fixed cameras should display the words TAX boldly so people can see what's going on. "Safety Cameras" should be changed to "TAX Cameras" so people can see the truth. Whatever wording you think is appropriate, spray it on.
This isn't the ranting of a madman on an internet forum, it's a genuine call for action. It's time to take the media war to those that think lies make for good road safety policy. Time for a new years resolutioon that will make a difference.
Spread the message around all the forums and let's see something happen.
Oh, and to any
that should catch me, please take a lenient view, we all want to see you back on the roads in numbers.

This one authority set up a comprehensive review, consulting with police and emergency services, and various other parties, on an overall review of the effectiveness of various road safety initiatives, incuding engineering and eduation. Type in the words " safety camera restricted .doc" which will give you a barrowload of minutes of meetings, including the game plans for 05-06 of several of the scamships/councils involved that we dont normally get to see.
Also change the ".doc" to ".xls(for excel spreadsheets etc" or to other filetypes for even more down and dirty info on the things they dont want us to see.

I like the idea that any opposition is to be squashed by facts "proving" that lower limits are approved, wholly beneficial and of minimal negative impact, and yet....

Standard wording for "We're trying it out, and we'll monitor it to see if it works." Where does it say "we already know the answers"?

Never quit Carl, thats the point. Thats what they want us to do most of all.
No matter what they say or do, the only way theyll ever win is if we/drivers/pher's conform.
If we resist at every opportunity, make it as hard as possible, nay IMPOSSIBLE, contest every new "idea" they try to impose on us, find the hidden info they dont want us to see, get in their faces 24-7(Paul Smith is a fine example of this), itll cost them so much time and effort and most importantly (for them) - money, that eventually itll become a worthless case to persue.
If on the other hand we all sit around with our fingers tucked in our creases, well, theyll get their way, to our detriment.
I for one am not prepared to have any official( of any type) telling me what i can or cant do or when to do it at any price, espcially when its so obviously for "political" reasons. The best defence is an offense, so thats what drivers must do. The time for being passive expired a long time ago and its well overdue for the sleeping giant of all drivers to wake up and stomp these pricks back into the oblivion and obscurity they so richly deserve.
Organise, mobilise and declare war on the opposing side, and when i say war, i bloody well mean war.
It requires a multipronged attack strategy to defeat these slime.
From covert actions in the dead of night to infiltration of the enemy stronghold. Subversion of their systems by whatever methods individuals deem fitting, frustration of their intelligence collection technology, divide and conquer.
Its the only response that will work. Reasoning with them hasnt, so bollocks to em, take no prisoners.
Above all Carl, never believe for a minute that theyre ultimately in charge of things, cos theyre not, they only (to coin a phrase) "Think!" they are.
If you dont absolutely believe theyre in the "right" then your/our motivation is obvious: Its that theyre in the Wrong.
Such a situation cannot be allowed to exist and the "schoolyard bully" will get his front row kicked in, if we get our collective act together.
If people want to be bent over by the likes of the "speedfinder general" et al, then fine, do nothing.

The best way to defeat this is by issuing countering statements. Since the mass media cannot broadcast countering statemements, fearing that the same thing would happen to the as happened to the BBC the last time they didnt tow the line. This leaves very few alternatives.
1. Internet.
This wont work on its own as by and large the general public will not find any information disseminated unless they are actively looking for it.
2. "Guerilla marketing"
This term inclused such things as stickers on lampposts, writing things on the back of dirty lorries, graffiti, etc. This does not use the mass media to disseminate information. It is cheap but does still cost money. If such messages are employed containing web addresses then this provokes people to actively search for it, negating the flaw in the first example.
I propose doing such things as putting blunt messages such as
"lower speed means more pollution www.etc"
"safety cameras kill people www.etc"
Should be a good start

Enough newspeak man, they're SPEED cameras, safety has bugger all to do with it.
