Howdie All,

Was hoping someone would be able to kindly point me in the right direction here.

I am in a bit of a confusing situation with regards to my driving licence, in June this year I appeared at the Magistrates contesting a red light violation, to which I lost and was endorsed with 3 points. I had a clean licence at this time so it was no real big deal I just took it on the chin.

I know I was supposed to send off my licence to be endorsed but I didn't right a way as I knew my photo was coming up for renewal in a months time so I was going to do them both together basically.

Long story short a week or so after this incident I was made redundant and with it went my car and I inherited a whole load of stress so driving licence was really low down on my list of priories.

I get a letter about a month or so later from DVLA saying we've revoked your entitlement to drive, it was neither here or there at the time as I didn't have a car and had many more pressing issues to deal with so I filed that letter right in the old the 'later base'.

Now things are looking up again and I've secured a new job and want to get back on the road basically, to do that obviously I need a licence so on the D1 form I've got from the P. Office it's asking what I am applying for.. do I apply "To renew my licence with a new photo" and/or "Because it was revoked"

Secondly, with regards to the photo which has expired do I need to include a new one.. If I can supply details of my UK Biometric Passport, can they not just take the photo from there which is three years old.

And thirdly I am a bit confused as to the fees, for renewing a photo is says £20 but for renewal after revocation it says £50 however it does in brackets say applicable to the new drivers act which my case isn't and to make matters worse lady at the Post Office said the fees have recently changed too and the form not been updated, doh!

And also if anyone suggests to do it online - I wish I could but unfortunately if the licence has been revoked you've got to do it by post.

Cheers All!

I'd suggest you ring DVLA (this may take a while as they aren't very good at answering the phone these days), and ask them exactly what they need from you.

It could take a while for you to get your licence back I'm afraid, as due to cutbacks & the closure of their local offices, they have a much heavier workload and fewer staff.

But ring them, and get yourself sorted out, ask if there is any provision to drive before it is issued again (they've recently allowed me to drive without a licence).
