Car Parks! Bigger Bays ?

Just heard this on radio und not idea if this ist true... but they are going to revers the trend which started in 80s when Mini Metros und Pug 206 were popular - of small car park spaces.
Allegedy - due to people carrier popularity und so weiter - they intend to make bays bigger to accommodate this und our prams und kitten paraphanalia.
Anyone know of a link to this story which admittedly heard whilst trying to burp the youngest....

Yes, I think it's the anti-car mealy mouths who are behind this as well as reducing the off-road parking supplied with new-build housing.

They'll have a fight on their hands. My father in law has recently started working for a property developer and many councils are insisting on adequate (I think 1 car per flat + a few for visitors) parking in city centre flat developments.

That's a surprise if it's true. I thought the opposite is what the government wants, ie. inadequate parking to put people off owning cars and having therefore to use public transport (or park round the corner of course). Whole estates are now being built without garages or adequate parking.

Usually despite local councils they simply go to appeal and Fatty Two Jags simply rules that they can go ahead and put 456 flats and starter homes on site with onoly 50 car parking spaces

Weirdly enough, I believe that the local car-hating numpty councillors 'round these parts look unfavourably on planning applications that include enough parking for residents; the (totally barking mad) idea is that if there's not much parking to be had, it'll discourage car ownership!
you couldn't make this stuff up!We looked at some nice new houses in Hook, but commented to the agent that we weren't interested as there wasn't enough parking, and the agent said that they were only permitted to build an average 1.3 spaces per house.
Smaller parking spaces backfire, as eventually someone has to straddle the white line and the next person parks in the next space but one, missing a space.
I won't park in a space unless there is a good two foot on both sides.

I'm only repeating what the FIL told me. I would imagine that it's down to not wanting to annoy existing residents who park on streets etc. Not sure why he would make it up, but may just be down to where they are building at the moment.

I'm not 'having a go'...at the feline member..it's just that the bloody 'und' and 'ist' and 'schnell-kartoffel' crap means that I and other readers simply skip over her posts....
and they have some decent content that shouldn't be skipped over....
presumable, she doesn't really talk like the bearded spy in Blackadder the Fourth in real life...so I wish she would just write in English on here..that's all..

AFAIK it was planning stipulation rather than what the developers wanted

Ach So! Liebchen! I am so glad you do agree with me some to the time.
I keep typing "ist" und "und" AND "mit" (with).
Mad Doc has taken all the Magnetic letters from around the whole family und spelled these on fridge and freezer - so they are in front of my nose in kitchen (where he thinks I should spend all my free time! ) My youngest little boys have made me a poster to put on wall of my den - facing my desk here. It ist quite arty AND cute! Always mis-spelled these words - even at school... Once spent 2 hours in detention doing nothing but write out these two words in particular! Work colleagues screen my reports und a spell checker helps professionally ...Not have problem in other lingos I have to write in ... always had this mit English. Und of course - speak to youngest kitten in High German (that ist the form which you learn as official standard form) only at moment. Ted uses English to her. That ist how you develop the natural bi-lingualism. So far children have not inherited this block I appear to have.... einion yrth said:

Not a problem for me either - I work with a Polish girl who is far more difficult to understand than Wildy.
