A little background; I live in a new development with social housing scattered throughout. The houses are nice and the development forms part of a larger village in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

I’m all for social housing, it’s a good idea and needed but why don’t some of the people living in these houses appreciate where they are? There seems to be a few families, only resident in the social housing, that are causing a few issues.

One is a chap who lives in a lovely social housing home, he drives a Ford Escort Mk4 xr3i with a bean can exhaust and drives it like a .

The drive from his house to the first corner is quite short but he likes to floor it down this road whilst doing a ‘steering wheel shuffle to warm the tyres’ manoeuvre, when he gets to the 90 degree corner he slows to then hard accelerate it to a junction, he makes his turn then he then floors it through the village.

This is exactly at the same time when children are scattered around walking to school.

I saw him, heard him, this morning and gave him a look but I can’t quite comprehend why he thinks the way he drives is fair and considerate. I or anyone shouldn’t have to explain to him he’s driving like a knob.

Is this a job for 101 or a note on his windscreen?

Sausages up the exhaust pipe.

Oh wait, this isn't the lounge. If he's not going to biff you around then maybe a quiet word first.

He's already shown himself to be driving an older than dirt boy racer mobile like a tt, and you think you're going to appeal to his better nature?

Sometimes the book you're judging by its cover is actually what it is.

101 if you think it'll do any good, but my guess is you'll just have to lump it.

Social housing? Speak to his landlord (probably a housing association, as described?) regards what is being perceived as antisocial behaviour wink .

(It might also be worth trying to get a look at the relevant tenancy agreement - this may include a requirement that cars being used on the roads within the social housing development must be in a roadworthy condition...)

Lob a water melon out in front of his car. When he hits it and splatters it explain nicely to him that that is what he would do to a child's head if he hits it. If he stops in time then he isn't driving too fast for the conditions and you can put it down to his silly exhaust.

Or the OP miss times the throw and it lands bang smack in the middle of the bonnet and ends up in court for criminal damage & being sued or given a beating if said person is a bit of a thug.

Having a quiet word would be the best bet.

35 years ago I use to drive through an estate in my Mk2 escort like a knob to visit my GF. A chap came up to me and said nice car mate, bet it goes well but could you calm it down a bit here cos there are kids about. I did, so might this bloke if you take the trouble to find him and talk sensibly. If he tells you to foxtrot Oscar then talk to Bib, but it is possible he just has not thought.

Social housing tenents being anti-social
tts - shock!!!

I own a nice btl in a development of flats occupied by wealthy types, few Russians etc

The social housing bods put an alcoholic psycho in the fking penthouse!! After years of tormenting residents, stting in the lifts, playing loud music, culminating in him breaking the French windows to another apartment and running himself a bath in their plush residence we FINALLY got him evicted.

Lump them all together and leave the rest of us in peace!

Frozen sausages may be the approved PH remedy but they're only good for use on lawns.
For an exhaust, you need something more malleable with a better seal.
Use the good old fashioned spud (dirt cheap) or expanding foam. hehe

The problem with that is the fact that you create ghettos of poverty and criminality, otherwise known as 'council estates'.
Once you have created a ghetto, it is incredibly difficult to recover, and indeed entire square miles of perfectly usable housing stock has been bulldozed just to get rid of the image and people from an area.

The idea with mixing small numbers of social housing units with private accommodation is the tenants behave better because you have given them somewhere nicer to live than usual so they tend to look after it a little better, they don't have low life neighbours to associate with, and lastly they stick out like a sore thumb when they do step out of line, making them easier to deal with.

I'd knock on his door & try to have a sensible conversation about it, you might find it does the trick.

Yeah I know theory and it's worthy on paper and principle.

However, like some many worthy ideas it doesn't work in reality. They just abuse the privileges bestowed upon them ruin the party for everyone not to mention breeding resentment amongst those who work hard to live in nice surroundings.

Sorry, but at least we all know where the ghetto is and can avoid it if we chose!

But in reality the middle class bank manager just lowers himself to their level out of desperation and ends up getting nicked.

the problem is though that if/when he says "fock of kahnt" even for someone of that nature him being dobbed in to the police would lead to one inescapable conclusion - ie you did it and therefore are worthy of retribution
