Who would I contact to complain about the timing of traffic lights? Recently it's been changed for no obvious reason on my way home and added 10 minutes to journey times! Manchester...

Actually, it should be here

http://www.tfgm.com/Corporate/Pages/UTC.aspx

They look after signals throughout Greater Manchester.

Most signals are computer controlled running fixed time plans that vary throughout the day / week and so may not actually be vehicular activate. It is an inperfect system.

As I come down Wilbraham Rd, the signals as you cross Wilmslow road in Fallowfield have traffic backing up nearly a mile. This has been my work route for 7 yrs and its never been this bad and there arent any roadworks in the area to explain otherwise. A few other sets of lights also seem to take a wee bit longer too.

Thanks for the links guys smile

May sound stupid, but have the light timings reset to default at the new year perhaps? I've noticed loads of stupid timings in the new year.

Going by the London example the scam is all about creating artificial congestion then impose a 'congestion charge'.

Traffic backing up on upper brook street and the a34? It has been busy this last week with everyone returning to work.

Only by one of the ten councils (trafford) a few years ago. I thought with this devolution thing the congestion charge was back on the table. It looks to me that they have wasted no time in trying to create queues again.
