My cars MOT expired yesterday but the earliest I could get it looked at due to work and availability is tis Wednedesday (tomorrow). now the car isn't being driven in the meantime other than to the pre-booked MOT. Is this all okay and legal or is there more I need to do? The car is taxed and insured.

My Motor bike is SORN and the MOT has expired. When I come to put it back on the road will I be ok to book and MOT and ride it there without any Tax.

As long as it's properly insured and roadworthy, yes. It's legal to ride/drive to a booked MOT and then home or to a place of repair without MOT or tax.
(we did this thread last week).

Depends which class MOT your dinosaur requires.

Dinosaurs don't need an MOT as they're pre 1960 ')

Possibly not even tax if of low emissions. Though if it's a ruminant (like a cow) ,then it could be in a very high emission class madmad

Surely ruminants need boiler certificates ?

You are okay to drive to (and home from) a pre-booked MOT (I get them to write it clearly in their diary and give me an appointment card so there in no doubt (Note the spelling)) if you have valid insurance and the vehicle is road worthy.

The garage doesn't have to be particularly close to you either.

I like that idea about getting a card to confirm the MOT appointment from the garage. Thanks

Are we SURE that the car cannot be parked on the road if it does not have a MoT???? Surely as it is booked to go to one and even if it was not it can remain insured and taxed on a public highway until it goes for its MoT.

Yes, we're sure.
The wording of the legislation is very clear.

I've never understood why you'd SORN a bike, unless it's staying off-road for a long time amd not just the "off season". The most tax can cost is £80 a year and 6 months is £44, so you're saving about £6 a month amd have no way of getting out if the weather is good. Also, why let your MOT lapse? It's an annual test, so doesn't matter when in the year it's done.

As a bit side topic, A car has to be Mot'd taxed and insured to be parked on a public road, but what about roadworthy? As in does it have to have an engine in it? and be capable of being driven?
