In this issue of your SCaN,we announce Safer Roads Day, May 1st 2005- the biggest, most ambitious safety cameras casualty reduction project everundertaken in West Yorkshire.
Quite simply, our aim is to have a day whenthere is not a single injury-causing road crash across the wholeof West Yorkshire.
It’s a tall order and to make it work we need YOUR help.Staying safe on our busy roads by respecting speed limits… andunderstanding that safety cameras are there to protect all roadusers… is something we can all commit to.
Obviously, you want theroads to be safer where you live,and you can help by
- telling everyone you know – friends, family, neighbours and workcolleagues – about Safer Roads Day
- reminding everyone you know to take extra care of themselves andthose around them on the roads on Safer Roads Day and every day
- sending for and displaying Safer Roads Day posters, bumper sticklers and similar materials
- above all, by respecting speed limits… especially where there aresafety cameras!
Of course, we want everybodyon all our roads to be casualty-free every day and we’vechosen an easy-to-remember date – May 1st - to focuspeople’s attention and to promote an understanding that all of us have apart to play in keeping the roads safe. As it says on the ads: “Your roads. Your responsibility. Your choice”.
With your help, Safer Roads Day will make a real contribution to casualty reduction across the wholeof the area.
