police bail question

if someone has been given bailed by the police awaiting to go to court,can they leave the country to go on holiday?
i ask this because i know someone who is on bail,due to attend court next week i think.he is the most arrogant handjob i've ever met and is going to court for assault.
i didn't think you could leave the countrt if your on bail but i may be wrong.can someone tell me if this is correct please(i hope it is as he's supposed to go to portugal tomorrow)

There is no hardfast rule unless it's part of your bail conditions.

If the offence is serious enough, passport surrender will be needed. If even more serious, they wouldn't get bail
