i was making good progress down the m25 earlier (78mph true speed) when i notice a car following at discrete distance so instead of braking i maintained my speed and pull over from lane 2 to 1 after overtaking a lorry, cue said police car pulling alongside, the driver gave me a smile and a cheery nod and carried on.

I thought that there was leeway on speedos and pulling you for 78 in a 70 would have been preposterous and I would have been fuming.

there is but it's a guideline that is the police officers discretion
