Hi all, while out the other night, I noticed a police officer, wearing no hi vis clothing, literally standing in the road, pulling cars over, nothing unusual about that you may say, but he was just stepping out in front of traffic, there was no street lighting, freezing conditions, at the bottom of a hill, going from a 50 to a 30. It's a b road, and right where he was working the options a driver would have would be either swerving into oncoming traffic, into a hedge, or the unlit lay-by, his colleague was wearing hi vis, but surely we can't have police officers clad in black, jumping in front of traffic at any time of year, never mind in the conditions we have been having lately. Would I have any grounds to complain based on this officers actions?

You can complain about whatever you want. Believe me...people do.

Presumably the were a number of crashed cars where drivers had collided with oncoming vehicles and yet more where people had ploughed in to the hedge and unlit lay-by? If not I'd suggest that the situation was not quite as perilous as you are try to make out.

The police are representative of society as a whole, some are very bright some not so bright.

The officer, working in the face of oncoming traffic should have been wearing Hi-Viz you are correct.

Both are responsible for the cock-up.

It's not quite as bad as what you make out though. As I said some bright some not, where do you fit with your petty comment, perhaps you should have stopped and offered the officer some life saving safety advic instead of driving off and leaving him in great peril.

I guess the one wearing the high-viz jacket was the "bright" one and the one not was not so "bright"biggrin

Is this a follow on to the copper using a speed gun on the verge without a hi-viz a few months back?

Did the copper have a parrot on his shoulder?
