Something we were talking about in the pub the other night. You're pootling down the road, when you happen upon the BiB travelling just below the speed limit. You decide to crawl past, with about 2mph difference in speed.
Do you look across at the driver of the police car?, I try not to, because being a nice natured guy, I find it hard not to grin or smirk at the situation. The problem is, it makes me look like I've got a stiff neck, which makes me even more likely to start grinning. What's the BiB's experience on this?, does it give you a laugh?, in your position, I'd be cracked up.

i always try and subtely meet their gaze a bit or something....and nod or smile....and try really hard not to look like a w**ker (quite hard for me as it goes)

had a copper on the M1 stick his tongue out at me as I went past once trying to look serious - that made me laugh for ages!

I always look over and smile or nod if I make eye contact.

(Only if my car is tickety boo and I am not speeding) ;0)

Actually, do some cheeky BiB's do this on purpose to see how slow they can go before someone passes?

I've followed a marked car (but a Fiesta so probably not Traffic) at 50 in a 60 limit, no overtaking opportunities anyway. Over a roundabout onto dual-carriageway. Sat behind for about 150 yards and BiB is still only doing 45! Gave up and just floored it in the end (up to 70mph of course) Didn't dare glance over, just intently straight ahead (road observation, of course)

Doesn't matter if they look or not...

If I don't like the look of 'them', they'll get a pull...

I'm looking for a potential no insurance, no licence merchant...and they aren't likely to overtake me...

Which is why the car that stays behind me, when I'm behind some HGVs at 56mph...becomes very interesting to me..

It's hard to look at the faces as you give them a low pass at 60mph speed difference.

They do wave a bit, which is nice.

I normally smile and nod as I go past. None of them have smiled back they just give me a hard stare.

Get your passenger to hold a Sooty puppet up and do the "rubbing eyes and double take" thing and then wave to them, while you both stare straight ahead...

They probably think you're taking the piss...don't worry, I often simply wink or nod (but not as rapid as that smilie)

Reminds me of the time I was driving down the M3 in my Peugeot 205 1.9.

I was making good time when in my mirror I saw in the distance a car with some clutter on the roof. Not being one to take a chance I eased off to a steady 69 and waited.

Sure enough a police car arrived behind me and started to follow me. I kept on with the 69 business. After a couple of minutes the police car pulled along side and kept level with me.

So, I looked over at them, shrugged my shoulders and smiled. They sped off!

I guess they were looking to see if the car was stolen or if I was up for a 'race'...

Thats my comfort zone,i often folow BiB when in heavy traffic on the motorway, as nobody cuts you up or fills the gap in front etc.

Gives me a nice easy drive

So lay of the car behind

We used to have motorcyclist who would pull drivers for minor speeding infringements, and would approach the driver with his hand inside the front zip of his coat.

Once the errant driver had wound their window down, the PC would take his hand out, on which was a "Sooty" puppet. Sooty would then whisper in the PC's ear, and the PC would tell the driver that "Sooty says you've been speeding, and you're very naughty. Don't do it again, or next time, Sooty will make me write out a ticket for you..."

Someone actually made a formal complaint about this guy, and Sooty took early retirement.
