IAM?RoSPA and points

This isn't going to happen for a short while yet as i shall be out of UK for a short time, but i have been meaning to take my IAM test since i was 18. I'll be 27 in two weeks... 
(In that time i have taken tuition from IAM drivers mind)
Anyway, for my sins i currently have 6points on my licence. Both sets of three from fixed cameras.
I have read a few times about both organisations not being too favourable when points are gained when you are a fully feldged member. What about before you join..?
I try to drive to principles of IAM whenever on road, but obviously i can't be that good as i have half my allowed quota!
What are the respective groups views on joining with points on the licence and how long do they take note of them for..?

Rospa awarded me a Gold whilst I have three points on my licence.
The IAM did not care one whit about three points on my licence.
As to six and the above two....dunno. I doubt they'd mind.
But getting caught by yellow boxes *does* imply you might want to sharpen your observation. I've passed hundreds and thousands of GATSOs by now and not got caught.
It was some blighters on the A5 near Chirk with a hand-held laser that got me!

I was young and foolish on the first - on the A9 several years ago! Kind of inevitable given the situation i was in at the time and the number of cameras on that road...
Just foolish on the second - 1am in the morning a few months ago. Just moved to a new town, "knew" there was a camera there somewhere. Was coasting downhill in one of those daft 50mph d/c limit, no feet on pedals, car sped above 50mph on the gears, i didn't slow it sufficiently.
Still, live and learn.

Nope. Its more if you a many time repeat offender (and either bad enough or unlucky enough to be caught repeatedly
) that maybe you do not represent the ideals of safety and responsibility that the IAM exists to promote...
