Laser detectors to be banned?

Is it true? What good will banning a detector do that is usless anyway as my the time a laser alert's gone off, they're already got a fix on your speed?

I just got a snooper S1. Not passed any BiBs with laser speed cameras yet so not sure if it works.

I personaly dont have a problem with Detectors, its the Jammers that i dislike (and im not talking about Bob Marley).

Ive never had a Detector and i wouldnt buy one personaly but each to their own.

Like many other Trafpols on the Forum, ive stopped many people with Detectors for speeding so they are not 100% foolproof.

Some people in my experience use them to assist with their day to day driving but on the other hand, some people rely on them 120% in order to blast around everywhere.....a very foolhardy thing to do.

As an IAM member (they probably do not condone speed detectors) I like to think I abide by the speed limits. However I am far from perfect. The detector for me (though only had it a limited time) is more of a belt and braces. I at least now know if the camera was active and not in mimic mode for instance. I doubt that it would actually tell me before I pass the camera particularly as it relies on a reflected signal from the car in front.

In this case I am referring to Gatso's not laser guns.

Another excellent feature of the snooper (some will totally disagree with this) is that fact it beeps at traffic lights and pelicans that utilise a radar signal.

There is a pelican crossing local to where I live and I do know its there but due to reflection the detector sees it before I do as it is around a bend. What better looking ahead for potential hazards can you get than that.
