Busy lane ticket query

Yesterday I received in the post a £50 penalty charge notice for being in a bus lane on 11th Dec at 20.09 (Saturday night) in Hampstead.
Racking my brain I recall that it was when I dropped off Mrs AC at her cousin's birthday party and only stopped to let her out.
What I'd like to know is can this be legally issued 1 month after the event, and also my name has been spelt incorrectly on the PCN, can I use this as a rebuttal to the fine?

IMO its all a bit of a scam on behalf of the councils anyway - the pic will have been taken by a human operator who could have used his/her judgement as to whether you were deliberately takig the p155 with a bus lane or were clearly just dropping off...
I got done by one driving through central London early one Saturday morning a while back. Was navigating by road signs & AtoZ and inadvertently wandered into the start of a bus lane whilst not looking at the tarmac. Pulled out as soon as I realised (only in there for a few car lengths - no other traffic around me) but too late - I'd been snapped just as my rear wheels got onto the red paint. £60 please!
Doubly annoying to me as bus lane queue-jumpers are a pet hate! 
If I were you, I'd check that the bus lane was even in force at that time of night before caving in.

Certainly check the times on the Bus Lane.
I stopped an old boy a few months ago driving along a busy Bus Lane during its times of operation.He was the only person using it whilst everyone sat stationary in traffic.
I felt compelled to stop him and when i questioned him about it he replied......"No son, these are the times that i can use it".
