Work colleague mentions that he has set up a ip webcam to capture people who litter or fly-tip on the public road near to his property.... he asked if the video evidence could be used to convict offenders?, I'm guessing it could, but are there privacy laws or anything that would protect the offenders by being filmed in their actions?

I vaguely remember something about having to place a sign up saying that the area is covered by cctv. Maybe someone can expound on that a little.

No requirement if the camera is filming people in a publicly accessible place. If you're on private land, the owner has the right to ask you to stop.

As a private individual, I wouldn't worry about putting cameras up and filming them.

Councils use hidden cameras for that application. I don't know the rules covering the use of hidden cameras by Councils varies from that of private individuals doing the same thing.

I hope it works. smile
