On my way home this afternoon I noticed a policeman with a hand held laser pointing at my car. The road I was on is unlit so I assumed it was NSL after leaving a 30 zone but now im thinking that its a 30 limit all the way. I was still under 40 as its a fairly narrow winding road leading into exwick in exeter. Is a ticket now inevitable.

In bygone days when speed wasnt demonised the way it is now you used to have a sporting chance with the plod when dealing with an actual live person, normally you would see a policeman with the speed gun and a patrol car 200yds down the road to pull you in, so I think you may be ok.

If you get done and its under 40 mph you will probably get the option of a speed awareness course if you have not attended one in the last 3 years. So no points.

If you just so happen to get done for 34mph, make sure you keep the paperwork, for reasons which will become clear!
As said though, likelihood is that if it was a cop at the roadside, you'd have been pulled at the time.

Wasn't the person holding the gun in this instance a live person? confused

Regards GATSOs vs human patrols I'd be inclined to agree with you, except I think if you were to do a poll asking if people would support several more patrol cars for every camera they'd say no.

Ultimately people just don't want to be stopped from speeding for the most part, are only supportive of discretion that goes in their favour, etc.
