I don't shake people's hands because (a) you don't know where they've been, and (b) you don't know what they might have that you can catch (scabies and hep B/C spring to mind).

To avoid "stereotyping", I just don't shake hands with anyone. Some people do, I don't. I'll happily explain why to people though.

Your no shaking hands rule did initially surprise me Dibble, but now that you've explained I suppose it does make sense. In your line of work you'll have to deal with all sorts of unsavoury characters, unlike most of us. I guess we're lucky in that respect.

I prefer to think I'm not an unsavoury character, but what I meant was that most PHers, unlike police officers, presumably do not have to involve themselves with such characters.

Have the very oddest feeling we may have met in the supermarket - a wimpish looking bloke told me to slow down in the supermarket aisles as I was "walking too fast!" He looked like a total wus! - has to be him!

Und he remarked on my Swiss accent sounding familiar as well... it was weird! Und he shouted after me not to drive as fast as I shopped!
