I hurt my neck when I got hit by someone else 18 months ago.
I was dealing direct with their insurers but don't agree with their assessment of damages.
Stupidly I didn't just hand it over to my insurer to progress as I wanted to save society and the motoring public from legal fees that drive up everyone's premiums. Mistake.

Anyone recommend a good straightforward law firm / accident management firm that will pursue this fairly?
I'm not after some rabid bullsh#tters who will try to inflate it way beyond fair compensation, I want a realistic view of whether to pursue it first, then someone sensible to do so afterwards.

thanks all

Nick

Try here; http://www.amelans.co.uk/

The boss Andrew is a friend of mine and is top notch. They are the company that had a TV documentary series on injury type claims a few years ago.
Andrew also started the Injury Lawyers for you company.
Good luck.

Avoid Irwin Mitchell like the plague
Had them deal with a claim once for me through my own insurer
Was a terrible experiance, in that they never recorded information correctly
Seemed to duplicate letters
And wanted me to settle straight away

I hope you find a decent solicitor smile

As a proper High Street Solicitor, Dickinson, Parker Hill in Ormskirk did me proud a few years back when someone aquaplaned into the back of me - he'd just come back from living in Cyprus "Sorry - didn't realise how slippy it was!" smile

It was dealt with by a Partner, not a call centre monkey and I've since used them for other non accident stuff - I'm sure they'd cover anywhere in the Country for this type of work.

Not sure how you can justify that comment without knowing details about the OP's case.

He's questioning himself in the OP whether to pursue it, can't have been that bad on that basis...

As far as I can see, he's questioning whether to pursue it on the basis that while he feels that the offer isn't reasonable, he's aware he's not the expert on what reasonable is and he wants an expert to tell him whether his feeling is right or not. Seems very sensible to me.

Except that reasonable is paying for out of pocket expenses or costs because of the accident, not just give you the biggest, fattest cheque you can get your hands on. He should know how much he's out of pocket and therefore know whether it's a reasonable offer, it doesn't take an expert.

He's been injured too. Knowing what is a reasonable expectation for injury compensation takes an expert in injury compensation.

I was just trying to ascertain whether we are talking life changing injuries and a measly offer or "whiplash" and they didn't offer Thousands.

"I hurt my neck" can mean alot of things.

( I apologise to the OP if he suffered serious injuries and my post was out of order )

value of claim has a big impact on who would be recommended - if it's a bit of whipcash any decent local solictors that do personal injury should be able to tell you if it's reasonable but if it was a high value claim you'd be looking at specific solictors in specific firms and specific counsel i from specific chambers ...

It's not a high value claim. I've still got a sore/stiff neck. That's it.

Not out of order at all - happily not that serious.

Ok, I'll bite. I know you shouldn't feed the trolls but I can't resist.
That's a moronic statement.
Of course I know what's a reasonable offer for out of pocket expenses. It's a bit of adding up.
However I was, and remain, injured.
Not massively, not in a life-changing way. But in a way that's annoying and sore whenever I go to the gym or turn to look in the car's blind spot.
I, like anyone else in the same position with an injury caused by someone else's lack of due care and attention, have a right to fair compensation for this.

Having played things fair and tried to keep lawyers out of this (keeping costs down for everyone) I now suspect that the 3rd party's insurer might be pushing their luck a bit and frankly I don't see why I should tolerate it.

If you are still experiencing pain with it 18 months later I would seriously suggest you get it checked out medically first.

I thought insurers worked on fairly rigid guidelines for compensation payouts.
