parking restriction without yellow line?
Discussion
Morning all, received a ticket today for parking in a restricted parking area outside of designated times but is it right? I went for my theory test this morning in Coventry drove into the road down the side of it and there were double yellow lines that'd been painted black, happy days I thought I was running late anyway so parked up went and did my test and came back to a ticket. In hindsight there are the little signs you normally get when it's single yellow lines with a small urban freeway symbol and some times which obviously I should have spotted but didn't think to look as there weren't any lines do I need to pay or have I been caught out between them painting over the double yellows and adding the new lines and they're trying to pull a fast one? If so will the traffic warden have taken a picture of my car with the painted over lines shown or will I need to go back and collect my own evidence? Obviously I should have looked but I don't park in towns very often and it was a genuine mistake if I'm wrong I'll take it on the chin but if there was a line I'd have checked
Cheers in advance guys... matt

If it was a sign like this... then there does not need to be any markings on the road.
No wasn't like that was white with a small 50mm ish blue n red symbol then said "no parking except unloading between" I'll get pictures on my way to work tonightIf it was a sign like this... then there does not need to be any markings on the road.

Did you pass the theory test?Although this site http://www.ukmotorists.com/cpz.asp says that "In law, CPZs don't even exist but are "creatures of statute" and, in order to be enforceable, should comply with rigidly laid down road marking regulations maybe it's worth putting in an appeal as it's only a 5 minute online thing anyway so no time lost and if it's refused the 14 day reduced fine offer will start again
If you were parked in a CPZ you will have driven past a sign informing you of such - and they're not small signs .
Every route into a CPZ should have the same standard sign at each entrance to the CPZ, and if only one such sign is missing then it's not a compliant CPZ and that's your appeal point. In approximate terms, anyway .
As posted above, PePiPoo's council and decriminalised parking forum will reveal all.

Yeah, like this one as you enter the CPZ in Manchester on one of the major routes in. Helpfully turned through 90° as well. Manchester has 4 zones, each with different times of operation. Not at all obvious.Every route into a CPZ should have the same standard sign at each entrance to the CPZ, ...
