VED & car purchase.
Discussion
I,m going to travel 150 miles to potentially buy a car tomorrow. The tax expires today.
If I tax the car online tomorrow, whilst at the sellers address, will I lose a month when the V5 reaches Swansea for the keeper change?
I really don't want to drive it untaxed, and risk the consequences of a fine.
Any suggestions?

The seller will 'lose' June's VED in the refund of outstanding VED if the OP (new buyer) taxes the car tomorrow (June 1st).
The buyer will 'lose' nothing in this particular scenario (apart from, pedantically, a few hours' VED which is nonsensical as 'the system' works in complete calendar months)??
I think people are overreading into what actually happens (and it's pretty simple, even I can understand it
).

Clearly not.The buyer will 'lose' nothing in this particular scenario (apart from, pedantically, a few hours' VED which is nonsensical as 'the system' works in complete calendar months)??

).As stated above the tax expired today, so the seller won't lose a penny.

You can tax two days prior as the new keeper, so just tax it at his address starting June, and when they get the V5 it will say change of keeper June 1st latest anyway, which shouldn't alter the tax you took out.
Many thanks.I didn't know you could tax two days prior to becoming the new keeper.
