Part time job + insurance occupation
Discussion
Eldest has been offered a 2 day delivery job at Pizza Hut, they offer their own 3rd party business use insurance so no need to change from SDP.
However I am not sure if we need to notify insurance of change of occupation from student to student with part time job when he will only be working 2 days.
Doing a quick quote his insurance rises 400% if he adds second occupation so if it the case no point in taking the job.
So, PH, do we need to tell them? He doesn't seem to think so but if his insurance is cancelled and he's hit with 6 point I imagine he will.

Thanks, that was what I imagined would be the case.marshalla said:
SDP or SDP+C ? Might need to change that at least.
AFAIK the C is commuting to a place of work/study, he doesn't drive to uni (it's in the city centre with extortionate prices) so should be fine. You should tell them, but how were they ever going to find out?
Well that was until you told them by getting a quote, you've tipped them off and given the evidence they need to prove you knew you needed to inform them and that you knew it would effect the price you pay for your cover.

Good point. It's always good to drive without insurance and hope you get away with it. The police never check these things and if you have a crash the the insurer will just pay out, especially if you're on your way to work without commuting cover Well that was until you told them by getting a quote, you've tipped them off and given the evidence they need to prove you knew you needed to inform them and that you knew it would effect the price you pay for your cover.

You are assuming the insurance provided by Pizza hut does not cover the travel to work.
I won't say commuting, as i am not sure irregular travel to a part time job meets the definition of commuting particularly if it's somewhere local, but insurers seem to take a very different view on what commuting means.

Yeah, commuting is a really tough one to define I won't say commuting, as i am not sure irregular travel to a part time job meets the definition of commuting particularly if it's somewhere local, but insurers seem to take a very different view on what commuting means.

Why would Pizza Hut cover his travel to work? Lots of poor assumptions by you here.
