Evening all,
A quick query to anyone with legal acumen - if there is a deadline for the submission of a document, for example, 1st July 2015, then when is the last legally acceptable moment for that submission? This is with regard to planning appeal applications.

If it is not otherwise specified, is it the end of the working day? Midnight? before office opening the next day?

If you know the answer and are able to cite the relevant legislation, I'd be most grateful!

Cheers, PH!

As I understand it, the Planning Portal logs receipt of documents. If you have receipt on the date it's due then surely that suffices?

In the pre online world by dd/mm/yy meant that the local authority planning department needed to have received the document by that day e.g. end of business. Online? you could chance your luck submitting out of working hours but may end up with an expensive legal case proving exactly what "by dd/mm/yy" means in law.

It is easier to ask the Planning people. Some matters are 4pm (some courts) unless stated to the contrary. Best ask the people who deal with it IMHO..

Thanks all - it was something bugging me on a forthcoming issue, and nobody in the planning dept until Monday!
