Any friendly solicitors care to answer a question
Discussion
Hi, I have an issue with some legal services given that I wonder if I can complain about. I was wondering if any solicitors would mind giving their opinions in private. Not looking for free legal advice or anything, would just appreciate a qualified opinion on whether there is a case to answer or if my personal feelings are blinkering me. This is relating to preparation of wills hence why I would appreciate a private response. Thanks

So not asking for something for nothing then?

Looks like a reasonably straight forward request from the op, but hey, this is PH: Money Matters.
Anyone fancy fixing my car for me?Not looking for a free warranted repair, but it really needs to be a qualified, professional mechanic who works for a Merc franchised dealer, as I need to know that the work will be warranted.
Maybe from that perspective it's easier to see why there's not many takers, and why posters have highlighted the possible reasons why?
There are several friendly solicitors on the forum but without some information on the scope of the question I for one would be reluctant to chip in. At what point does a PM exchange have to stop? I appreciate that there may be aspects that you do not want to expose in public but it is harder in a PM exchange to say "enough".
It sounds like what you are looking for is the sort of conversation you might have over a pint if your social circle included someone who could give a qualified opinion. Maybe that is the route to go?
If you are the client then first port of call for complaints is the firm itself. After that it is the ombudsman and ultimately the SRA.
If you are not the client but a beneficiary or executor then you would still start with the firm and in some cases the ombudsman may be able to help.
In either case if you are clear in expressing your concerns then most firms will provide a reasoned response and this would at least give an alternative view to compare with your own.
And mine's a pint of Theakstons please.

I for one, (with my qualifications and many years experience) will occasionally chip in and help where I can, even when it is something I would normally charge for, as for many other members here.
Anyway, not knowing the situation probably doesn't help.

Justin - I would be delighted to fix your TVR for you. Before I commence, I will need to give it an extensive test drive to confirm what work is required. I have heard that axle location during doughnuts can be an issue, so rest assured I'll check that out. I expect it'll take about a week. Just let me know. Not looking for a free warranted repair, but it really needs to be a qualified, professional mechanic who works for a Merc franchised dealer, as I need to know that the work will be warranted.

Ops question is ok.
I have given many £1000's of free advice on development matters. Some prole have thanked me with a surprise bottle of whiskey or similar in the post, some have just said thanks. Either work for me.
Many solicitors will give an initial view FOC. in fact I would never use one who doesn't.

Ok thanks for all the advice, I take the point about looking for free legal advice. My intention was only to ask if my complaint was reasonable? I'll take it up with the complaints dept then another solicitor if required.
Can I ask this then? Would I be better going to a practice a reasonable distance away? I'm guessing all locals probably know / deal with each other?
