What does a flash of the blues mean...

I spotted a police car yesterday that had pulled someone over on the motorway hard shoulder, at that time I was in fairly slow moving stuff doing around 50 and thought nothing of it.

A bit later I was pinging along at around 90 when I noticed a car in the rear view just maintaining a steady distance but looking like it wanted to pass, so I pulled over and as he went past I noticed it was the same copper. He sat next me (I was now doing 70 as you would)just long enough to be notice, flashed his blues a couple of time and buggered off.

So was that a finger wag or was he (un)subtley saying he'd got me. I'm hoping for a finger wag as it was arond 6am and there wasn't a whole heap of traffic around then.

In my experience (and i've had a fair few!!) it was just a "finger wag, i'm watching you sonny" type signal.

I wouldnt worry about it at all, come back when u get the NIP through the post and prove me wrong!!

I had something similar a few years ago. Overtaking traffic in L3, saw a fast moving car coming up behind me so accelerated to pull in (it was dark) reaching a naughty speed 100+. Said car was a marked vectra estate. I pooped myself, but he just put his lightbar on wagged at me and screamed off!

Felt very lucky!
