Oppressive Police Enforcement

Hi All
I don’t normally do long posts but I thought I’d share with you all some details of my day out. Hamster son and I went to a computer fair, a round trip of about 60 miles on all types of roads.
Just going out of the estate we saw a marked T5 booking someone for something, stopped just before going into a 30 zone! Onto dual carriageway next with long term 40 limit roadwork’s, got to watch it here, BiB’s with hairdryers position themselves just as you think the coast is clear but still in 40 zone, Road Angel and cruise control help here. A couple of hundred yards later sometimes we get ANPR Van and 5-6 marked vehicles either way for the inevitable stops, not this weekend though. Onto A1-M1 link road, fast stretch of road this and it’s not unusual to see BiB’s with the hairdryers on their own little lay-bys. Off onto another dual carriageway where I once saw a junior BiB being shown how to work hairdryer without aid of car, she was only young as well, bless her.
Back towards home city along M62, long term roadwork’s to upgrade A1. 50 limit with Gatso’s, today though we had marked police car as well. I’m doing 50, bang on, on Speedo, 47 on Road Angel. Marked car 100-200 yards behind me. Cars overtaking me, car behind trying his hardest to make me go faster by making his front number plate mate with my rear. I won’t go any faster, he’s getting annoyed.
Picture this, approaching Gatso, so Road Angel’s going nut’s, car behind trying to make me go faster, I’m watching police car in rear view mirror to see what he’s doing, cars overtaking me on right. Sick. Thing is if I’d smacked into car in front I’d get done for Dw’oDC&A by BiB behind me. My attention should have been on road not on law enforcement.
Back onto dual carriageway, careful as you exit slip road from A1 to road home as Bib’s with hairdryers again, sit in lay-by and nick you just as you come over brow of small hill, as far as I know this is no black-spot, but a bloody good place to hair dryer overwise law abiding peeps.
Careful through road works again and careful onto estate just in case T5 still there.
Is it me or are the police obsessed with making our motoring lives as stressful and difficult as possible.
Just a small note on volunteer Scamera operators, I’m ineligible as my Parents were married when I was born!!

I've re-read you post and can't for the life of me see anything wrong with what you've described....
You've seen 2 x traffic cars..(is that right) on that journey. The first one had stopped a motorist for some reason..(you assume to 'book them', who knows
)
Then there is another traffic T5 as you pass through roadworks..
None of these are speed traps it would appear...but physical BiB presense on the road....
The kind of thing we are all asking for more of..instead of cameras and you're complaining about it...

OK maybe it's me, I just felt opressed. The first TC was writing in his book with the hapless motorist sat by his side, that's never good. Maybe I wanted to go out and not have to dodge or worry about hairdryer toting traffic cops just waiting for normally law abiding drivers to have slight lapses of concentration.
If you look in a previous post you'll see I was scamera'ed in 2000, and well, I have not, and will not, get over this. I don't mind mind a bit of fun on a level playing field but Northamptonshire hid the van. It turned a police helping furry rodent into a bitter, twisted and frankly paranoid company car driving rodent.
I now cherish my point free license and I have an irrational fear of police cars, parked up vans and anything in a flouescent jacket.
Maybe I need professional help, what I don't need is to drive around in fear. You'll say "Don't Speed". Do you know every given road speed all over the country and know where traffics cops hide just to catch us out. If you do your're a better man than I.

I agree...you're probably a bit paranoid...but don't fall into the trap of thinking that 'trafpol everywhere' as they aren't and of course without them; it would be cameras only. The trafpol numbers need to be up, with camera numbers down..
As for knowing every given road speed all over the country....in 99% of cases there will be a primary speed limit sign as you enter the zone and if the limit is 40mph+; a repeater sign at regular intervals. Good observations skills and awareness will do you no harm..
Besides..the rule about keeping to limits in 30/40/50 usually stands you in good stead....
The national speed limit roads are always the best to 'open it up' on...and although cameras are present on some; the quantity isn't half as much as on the other roads..
Observation and awareness I have. Nobody can do it 100% of the time on unfamiliar roads in unfamiliar towns.
The next time I screw up, if there is a next time, I can't see the trafpol saying "Oh forget it, your're not from round here, or the nice (sic) Scamera guy letting me off.
I'll be nicked, £60, 3 points, for a mistake, no intent, just a momentary lapse.
Even if there is only me feels this way, I think it's wrong and you will never change me.

Up until recently I've ridden high powered motorcycles and owned an Impreza....
I've travelled all over the country and, without the assistance of any electronic gadgets; Never been done for speeding.
Luck or judgement? You decide...
i've not even been stopped...so it's not a funny handshake story either

I was recently 'tugged' in my audi diesel 
Quote after establishing that
a) The shed was insured
b) No, I wasn't on the H Plan diet or had not been shoplifting
c) Someone looking as scrotey as I did was actually a police officer

After establishing that my car wasn't a moving offence in anyway, yes it had an MOT and insurance, I was let on my way...
My point is, contrary to popular belief we are not exempt from being stopped or prosecuted. I looked like a scrote, in a potentially scrotey car.(I would stop me in it too)
I was stopped to verify who I was, and whether my car was legal, Pc xxx was a nice bloke, and I had no problem with him.
Just wait till I get him on my ground

But you obviously have never ridden or driven in LanCASH£re - else you'd have been on the COAST course before now
. These days you would get a stern letter - but if you drove at 37 mph as you once told us you did - you'd have lost your licence in Lancs over that!
Especially if you drove along the prom in Blackpool - waving at Dibs as he grapples mit stroppy wimmin and their lack of lights und so was! Und Strassen

Hi chick..
The cameras to allow BiB to patrol elsewhere is true..however, it's not for naughty drivers, as the officers who have been axed from the traffic dept are now in other 'depts'....
As for speed first etc...I personally go for any offence...i'm not choosy...(zero tollerance, you might say..
Thanks for the traffic cops tip for Wednesday. It's only on for 30 mins I believe. Cheshire again
