...Sometimes you can be absolute twonks. Last night driving home from an event (sober, zero drinks I hasten to add) at about 10pm, am driving in a built up area, 30 limit, am adhering to the limit, roads are quiet. I round an unsighted left hand bend and what do I see hurtling towards me on the wrong side of the road going round a long pedestrian central reservation, is god damn Body and Doyle in some unmarked car blue lights flashing like a pedophile in a park. Only course of action for me to take is pretty much emergency stop and mount the pavement to let them past. As they inch past, they look somewhat sheepish but no form of apology, meanwhile the car they were trying to overtake pootles along at 30 on the right side of the road, they drop in behind, and I guess scare the sweet be jesus out other oncoming traffic behind me as they try another crap overtake. So thank you, you pair of idiots, for nearly causing a head on crash, a bit of brown to pop out and lowering my opinion of the police. Before you keyboard jockeys come on and try to defend them cause they were attending some life or death situation, or stopping the crown jewels being nicked, or such like, close your eyes and create a mental picture of what I've just described, and if you can justify their driving then you too need your head looking at. Idiotic driving, driver was a bellend of massive proportions. End of.

All our car log books have in big letters on the first page "No emergency is so great that justifies not making it there at all" (or something thereabouts)

These guys were driving like muppets. No excuse.

Does sound like a terrible attempt at an overtake and one they shouldn't have gone for but for it to seriously lower your opinion of the police as a whole sounds a bit ridiculous.

Should a police officer treat every one with utter contempt because of one idiot he dealt with?

If you feel strongly about it you need to make a complaint.

I've seen police vehicles (as well as plenty of other types) being driven badly and it pisses me off too. Even more so when it has the potential to do me some damage.

Well done for being first out of the trap with a 'I'll put words in your mouth post', well within the first 10 posts, give yourself a pat on the back. Show me where I indicated I thought that this 'seriously lowered my opinion of the police as a whole....' I clearly state in my title my view of the police, and and first sentence goes someway, IMO, to demonstrate that this isn't usual behavior. PH fool.

Is that what paedophiles do? They can't be very good at it, as they'd be spotted quite easily wouldn't they.

I feel strongly enough to write a few words on a forum, am I going to go to the lengths of wasting time, money and effort to put in an official complaint, no, life if far too short, am I going to invest in a dash cam, yes.

Ok, although I didn't say 'seriously'

Point taken and tea and toast have now been consumed, I feel more level headed now.

In the time it took you to write your post you could have sent an email to the force covering the area it happened in.

You may have got an apology, the terrible driver might have had action taken against him.... It would have been a more productive use of your time than a forum based rant smile

I'm not trying to be argumentative BTW, there should be a 'contact us' link on every forces web page.

Exactly what I was thinking. Most forces have a link which you can click to take you to a complaints page where you can email in. It's free....so no wasting money. And it might mean someone gets the retraining they need to stop them driving like idiots. In short, you could prevent further accidents by telling the right people instead of getting your kicks from doing it on here?

Guess they are insured? Could they get done for dangerous driving?
Get a dashcam.

If the incident is as bad as the OP painted it then I am certain it would be worth reporting and indeed would have been.

If the incident is not as bad as it has been made out here then it would cause the witness not to think it worthy of reporting on an official channel but worthy of a rant against the department of officialdom involved.

If the incident is as it has been reported by the OP then it should be reported and would have been easier to report than post it here r at least just as easy.

True, an apology is due to the poster who did correctly pick up that I had tarred all the police with the same brush, that wasn't my intention, so sorry from this PH fool. I do appreciate the hard tasks that they undertake. From the outset I had tried to show I support the police, hence the title. Anger from last night had spilled over to this morning, as I say more level headed now.

I was almost taken out by a local patrol car which was chasing a car off a local estate.
The scrotemobile came out onto the main road at a ridiculous speed just missing an oncoming car which had only just cleared the junction and screeching into my lane. I hit the anchors as I thought he'd lost it and was just missed by the patrol car following him.
If I hadn't hit the brakes before I saw him it would have resulted in a crash.
I had my 6 year old in the car at the time and decided to make his station aware of it, felt a bit guilty but thought it necessary someone had a word with him.
I didn't need to feel bad as he'd already reported himself, said his view was blocked by the car which had just cleared the junction and he really could not believe it when my car appeared.
Apparently this is the norm now when a near miss occurs.
Restored the faith somewhat.
